Moving one step further with the Swachh Bharat initiative, Young Indian is launching a nationwide ‘Adopt a Street’ campaign on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, on Friday. Under this campaign YI will take part in responsibilities like litter clean-up, approved plantation and beautification projects, maintenance and reporting of hazard, watering and caring for trees, clearing storm drains of leaves and debris, etc.
With the launch on Friday, the YI members cleaned the street opposite to Global Hospital near Arera Petrol pump; the adjoining wall was cleaned and painted. They also educated the residents of the nearby slum about the importance of keeping their surroundings clean. A regular maintenance schedule will also be followed by the YI members.
Through this campaign YI wants to educate the residents and business owners of the locality so as to get everyone to work to do their part. The campaign was launched in all 39 YI chapters spread across the nation, with an objective of contributing to the cleanliness and beauty of our city streets while bringing people together for a common goal.
The YI has been constantly working for the welfare of the society with initiatives like ‘Project Masoom’ against Child Sex Abuse, ‘Right to Write’ for underprivileged students and ‘Personal Hygiene and Clean Campus Drive’ under the Swatch Bharat initiative.
