You are not aware of Govt schemes’ realities: CM Nath to Bhargav

Published on:

After accusing the BJP of engaging in horse trading to topple his government, Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday evening shot a letter to Leader of Opposition in the State assembly Gopal Bhargav claiming perhaps he was not aware of ground realities of government schemes in the state.

Putting stability of the Kamal Nath government under a cloud, the Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargav had on Monday urged the Governor Anandiben Patel to convene a special session of assembly to discuss ‘urgent issues of public welfare’ adding welfare schemes had ‘stopped’ in the Congress government.

Reports of BJP planning a coup against Kamal Nath government had intensified after this letter shared with the Governor.

Meanwhile, in the letter sent to Bhargav on Tuesday evening, Nath claimed his government immediately undertook public welfare measures after assuming office on December 17, 2018 and continued them till March 10, 2019 when the model code of conduct came into effect.

In the two months and half before imposition of MCC, the Congress government undertook a number of welfare measures, especially the farm loan waiver, writing off farm loans of 21 lakh farmers despite inheriting an empty coffer from the BJP government.

“We continued offering bonus on wheat and payments under Bhavantar yojana,” said Nath alleging BJP also tried confusing farmers over wheat, gram procurement and payments.

Reminding Bhargav of farmers’ payment issues of last year, Nath stressed his government was clearing payment within a week.

Saying that Samabl and other schemes too continued unhindered all this while, the Chief Minister also offered the amount of sanctions under various schemes.

The beneficiaries in Gadhakota (Bhargav’s hometown) and Rehali (constituency presented by Bhargav) too have befitted from the schemes, Nath told the LOp.

He also mentioned slashing of electricity bills by half under Sambal scheme and claimed sufficient budget was allocated for availability of water. The law and order is in control, he claimed further.

Claiming all this, Nath accused Bhargav of writing to Governor on the basis of estimates and imagination. Saying that he was always available for addressing any doubt over governance related issues, Nath affirmed Congress was always ready to debate issued of public interest.

On contrary, BJP state president Rakesh Singh clarifying Bhargav’s stand claimed he had only urged the Governor for an assembly session to discuss public issues and did not mention about floor test.

“Congress apprehensive of fate of its government misinterpreted his views and levelled baseless allegations,”

Singh said. In a prompt reply on Nath’s missive, LOp Bhargav accused him of offering superficial reply on issues raked up by him. Underlining parliamentary proceedings as a strong medium to address public issues, the LOp urged Nath not to use political spectacles to see his demand for special assembly session and instead take his demand as a constructive and pious initiative to raise and solve public issues. He urged Nath to take an immediate decision in public interest.
