leader of Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPI-M) in the Parliament and polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury in a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and union minister of health JP Nadda urged to ensure construction of hospital sanctioned in 1996 – 97 in Teonthar tehsil of Rewa district. Yechury in his letter to the Chief Minister and union health minister said, “I would like to draw your attention towards the pending project related to health services at Teonthar tehsil of Rewa district. Teonthar is 85 km from Rewa and majority of the population in this area comprises of poor peasants and tribals. However, there are no hospitals in this area.”

Yechury further said that on popular demand and people's movements in the year of 1996-97, the permission to establish a hundred-bed hospital was given. The Government had acquired land for the said hospital long time back and requisite permission had also been granted for recruitment of staff and employees for various posts, he added.

He said that regrettably, till today, the construction of the said hospital has not begun and the recent statements of officials of districts and division level that land for the hospital is not available, have raised serious doubts over the project and intentions of the administration and State Government. Senior Communist leader said, “I request you to make sufficient allocations for the project and ensure that the construction of the hospital proceeds and the long standing demand of the people of the area is met.”
