WRMS endeavours to drive tomato farmers

WRMS in its recent endeavour connected Tomato farmers of Karnal district with SecuFarm to encourage them to adopt digital farming practices. When WRMS team of agri-experts witnessed that Tomato farmers of Haryana are still practicing traditional farming methods resulting in low productivity, they decided to act.

They connected with Karnal Horticulture Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and discussed about SecuFarm services which derisk farming for farmers and provide them with a guaranteed income. The pilot project kick started in 100 acres in the Karnal district of Haryana where smallholder tomato farmers will be provided with advanced digital farming services right from the seed selection stage to the post harvest market linkages.

Under the SecuFarm service, farmers will receive free of cost soil testing service to understand the nutrients lacking in the soil and appropriate solutions will be provided. Farmers will receive farm level crop advisory to ensure their crop diseases are treated within the time to minimize crop loss.

WRMS will also provide them with weather forecast using automatic weather stations so that the farmers can make the right decision to protect their crop.

SecuFarm services also include smart irrigation system which informs farmers about the right soil moisture in their soil and irrigate their farm as per the same as well as the weather forecast. This results in the conservation of both water and energy.
