The world blood donor day is celebrated every year worldwide to felicitate and honour voluntary blood donors. The theme for the world donor day 2022 is "Donating Blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save life."
More than 50 voluntary Blood donors donated blood at AIIMS Bhopal.The resident doctors, faculties, paramedical staff of AIIMS also participated in the voluntary blood donation drive to save lives of needy patients.
The voluntary blood donors were felicitated onWorld blood donor day in a ceremonyat AIIMS Bhopal where, Medical Superintendent Dr Manisha Shrivastava, Medical Superintendent and Incharge Transfusion medicine and blood bank along with faculty members Dr Babita Raghuwanshi and Dr Romesh Jain thanked and honoured the donors for regularly donating blood and saving lives.
On the occasion, Dr Manisha Shrivastava said that AIIMS Bhopal is committed to serve the poor and needy through transfusion services.
Anaemia prevention, provision of care to patients of genetic blood diseases , pregnant women, sick children and cancer patients are major priorities. Provision of apheresis products through blood donors to save lives has been taken up as a priority at AIIMS Bhopal Blood Centrewhich is evident from recent stem cell transplant to save a leukaemia patient. The voluntary blood donation is a way to show solidarity when the world is divided by diseases and war, she said.
The Department of TMBB at AIIMS,Bhopal organised poster and slogan competition to create awareness on Voluntary blood donation and enthusiastic participation from medical college and nursing college students was seen.
Regular blood donors who were felicitated shared their experiences to motivate others as well. The ceremony was live streamed at global platform with participation of over ten countries.
