Under the joint auspices of voluntary organization Science Centre, MP and Vigyan Prasar, Government of India, a workshop on science projects on low budget (Hand on activities) completed its third day at Kinder Garden Higher Secondary School, Dewas.

On this occasion the Senior Scientist of Vigyan Prasar Government of India BK Tyagi said that science cannot be taught, it has to be learned. Teachers can act only as guides and students have to learn it themselves. Most Importantly Science must not be learned from books, but it has to be learned through practical experiments and asking questions. Curiosity is the most important of all treasures in children and it must be encouraged and given the right direction.

On the third day the resource scientist Manish Yadav showcased experiments on electricity and sound. To explain the sound waves he used plastic spring and also produced different sounds using plastic straws. Similarly, he also showed experiments on electricity using household items. Resource Scientist Bl Maliya presented experiments on astronomy.

In the concluding speech the Secretary of Science Centre MP Sandhya Verma said that the children in the teachers were brought out during the workshop and their curiosity is once again alive. Now they can guide the students better when they return to their schools. She also requested the teachers to work as a resource scholar in similar workshops and share the work with as many people as possible.

Towards the end the participants showcased what they learned during the workshop. The participants were given certificates and experiment kits based on low budget experiment so that they can teach the students using them when they return.
