A two-day capacity building workshop organised by Child Rights Observatory (CRO) for its district network partners concluded here on Thursday.

The workshop was focused on the issues of Right to Education, Child Marriages and Violence against Children. The highlight of two days long exercise was the formulation of strategies and programmes of action to address these issues. It was decided in the workshop that each DCRF will work on three issues, one in each quarter. They will send the field data to CRO that will prepare a detailed report for circulation.

In the first session of second day Ahmed Jami Education Specialist from UNICEF gave a presentation on the status of ‘Right to Education’ in Madhya Pradesh. In his deliberation Mr. Jami told the participants that on the portal of DISE (a government portal) information regarding infrastructure, enrollment, drop outs etc of schools is available.

He was of the view that Child Rights Observatory and its district partners can play a proactive role in verification of the status in the field and in the DISE portal. He discussed the role of School Management Committees in achieving the goals of RTE and in designing the school plan. Psychologist Professor Uday Jain interacted on the conceptual issues on violence against children especially in reference to Social and Psychological aspects.
