Women reservation not be matter of ego: BJP Gen Secy

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Madhya Pradesh organisational general secretary Arvind Menon said that the issue of women reservation should not be looked as a matter of ego between women and men, instead it should be looked as an issue of women development and their political and economical rights prosperity.

Menon while speaking in a symposium organised on the occasion of World Women’s Day   here on Tuesday said, “Actually the issue of women reservation would prove to be a milestone in social change. We have assimilated role of welfare state in our constitution. The importance of women reservation is inherent in the fact that women reservation is not only in the interest of women instead it is associated with the interest of whole society.”

Menon further said that the women reservation would be guarantee of inclusive development in such meaning that many schemes that could not be completed due to lack of women participation would become success with reservation for women blended with the extra commitment of women.

States and Central Governments by providing 33 per cent and at some places 50 per cent reservation at many places increased women participation.

But in fact the women have become so much active that their participation has crossed this limit.

Madhya Pradesh is example where women have been provided reservation of 50 per cent in urban and Panchayat bodies but they have made a record by registering 54 per cent participation in these bodies, he added.

He said that some politicians are creating hurdles in the women reservation bill by talking of reservation in reservation.

But if given a look through creative sight than the schedule caste and schedule tribe have been provided with reservation through constitution.  The politicians could arrive on consensus by making this some flexible, he added.
