Talking go the media persons, Gwalior SP Amit Sanghi and ASP Jayaraj Kuber said that one Pothiram Jatav, s/o Faren and resident of Mohangarg in the the Hastinapur area of the city had gone missing about 11 months ago. His wife, Malati and brother filed a missing person report at the Hastinapur police station. Despite putting in all efforts the police was clueless about the case and failed to find the man or any clues regarding the case. For more than 11 months, the police was unaware of the victim and the culprits.

During this period, getting inspired by the Crime Petrol series, Malati kept on appealing in the court requesting the court to direct the police to find her husband. This was done so that the police or others wouldn’t suspect her.

Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased got suspicious about Malati and her lover, Ramotar and submitted a petition in the Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court expressing his concerns about the wife and the lover. On instructions from the High Court  Gwalior SP Amit Sanghi formed a team, asking them to speed up the investigation.

The police called Malati and her lover, Ramotar for questioning. On sustained grilling for more than 4 days, Malati and her paramour admitted that they had killed Pothiram because he had got wind of their affair and was objecting to their relationship.

They also told the police about the well in which they had thrown the body.  The police recovered the skeleton and have sent the remains for forensic examination.
