A 24-year-old married woman was set ablaze at Putlighar area by her husband and ex-husband late in the night on Sunday; condition of victim is reportedly critical, husband has been arrested while ex-husband remains absconding.
The victim Farha Khan sustained burn injuries after she was set ablaze by her husband Aziz Khan and ex-husband Imran Khan.
One of the accused Aziz sustained minor burn injuries.
Addl SP Zone 3 Rajesh Singh Bhadoria said that Aziz has been arrested while search for victim’s ex-husband has been started.
In her statement victim said that she had a fight with her husband Aziz in the night and during their fight her ex-husband Imran Khan arrived and the two physically
assaulted her and later set her ablaze. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Hamidia where she is undergoing treatment.
Police said that the victim has sustained burns over vital organs and doctors have told that she had sustained 75 per cent burns and her condition is reportedly critical.
Based on the statement of the victim police have registered a case under section 307 of the IPC against the two accused.
During the investigation Azim told the police that she had set herself ablaze and in a bid to save her he sustained burn injuries and he also told that at the time of the incident victim’s ex-husband was present.
The victim married to Imran Khan and later after divorce she married Aziz Khan. She sustained burn injuries at Aziz’s house.
