A newly-wed woman committed suicide by hanging herself after being reportedly upset over her marriage against her own wish in the Gulab Bag area in the wee hours on Friday. Jafar had an arranged marriage with Shahnaz Bano of Gwalior about nine months ago.
But the woman was in love with a youth and she continued her relation with him even after marriage. Despite the members of her in-laws asked her to severe ties with the youth, Shanaz was adamant and she used to talk to the youth over mobile phone, City Superintendent of Police Rakesh Chhari said.
Chhari said Jaffar called his in-laws here yesterday and they heard the recorded conversation of their daughter with the youth. Shanaz’s parents tried to connive their daughter but she did not listen and took the extreme step at 4 am on Friday. The body was sent for a post-mortem, police added.
