A trainee woman sub inspector reportedly committed suicide at the police training academy on Monday morning. Her body was found under mysterious circumstances in a pond adjacent to the academy.Anamika Kushwaha, the trainee sub-inspector is believed to have been recruited through MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB). It is believed that she jumped to death into the pond on Monday at 5 am.
Kushwaha was recruited a few months ago and was staying in a hostel in the Sagar Police Academy in MP.Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that not every death should be linked to Vyapam scam. "Her death is an unfortunate incident but it is not related to the Vyapam scam investigation. Every death should not be linked," Chouhan said.
According to reports, the trainee cop was mentally stressed which could have triggered the alleged suicide."Anamika Kushwaha jumped into the river and died. It is said that she was under stress for the last few days. She gave her exam last year and joined the batch this February," Jawaharlal Nehru Police Academy Addl SP Savita Sohane said.
Kushwaha's death is the third death reported in the last three days connected to the scam. The Vyapam scam has become a major political controversy with numerous witnesses and accused dying under mysterious circumstances. The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam relates to irregularities in admission in state-run medical colleges and recruitment in Government jobs.
The MPPEB conducts entrance and recruitment tests for admission in medical and engineering courses, and selection in certain government services, among others. It has been alleged that corrupt officials at the board took money to compromise the examination and recruitment for several professional courses. These courses include pre-engineering, pre-medical, MCA, teaching among others.
