Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that he would retire not only from politics but also from life if even a single allegation against him is proved right. He said that the Congress is trying to derail and divert the inquiry into the MPPEB cases that is presently going in the right direction.
Chouhan was replying to a discussion on an adjournment motion brought by the Congress in the State Assembly on Wednesday. The reply could not be completed due to intervention by the Opposition members.
later, when the House adjourned for the day, the Chief Minister addressed media persons and clarified his stand over the issue."The Opposition does not want to allow it to come to a logical end," he said, adding that those Mammon worshippers guilty in this case are not pardonable. Referring to the demand of handing over the case to the CBI, the Chief Minister pointed out that the High Court has dismissed 14 petitions in this regard, expressing satisfaction on the progress of the STF inquiry. The STF inquiry is being conducted under the supervision of the High Court, he added.
Chouhan said that immediately after receiving complaints about irregularities in the MPPEB examinations, the State Government took the initiative for an exhaustive inquiry into the case and its credit goes only to him and his Government. He said that the Opposition has no faith in the police, Government, the High Court or the STF.
“In fact, the Opposition has no faith or confidence in itself. Seeing that the matter was slipping from their hands, the Opposition started leveling baseless allegations. Disgusting individual allegations were made. Anyone found guilty in the case would not be spared. Only those persons have been arrested against whom substantial proofs were available,” he asserted.
Referring to the High Court order, the Chief Minister said that the court has observed that the STF has shown no laxity in the inquiry and took prompt action without wasting time. The court has also observed that the STF comprises experienced officers with impeccable image.
Referring to the irregularities committed in the recruitments made during the Congress regime, the Chief Minister said that irregularities on large-scale were order of the day at that time. The MPPEB was set up to check these irregularities. He said that in the Congress regime no Chief Minister took any initiative to hold an inquiry into such irregularities.
