Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has said that he would file a defamation case against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over his defamatory remarks.
Singh had come to Bhopal to court arrest on the basis of Chouhan’s last week’s comment against him. He along with his supporters reached TT Nagar police station asking the police to arrest him on anti-national charges.
However, after coming from the police station, he told media persons, “I am a law abiding citizen and presented myself before the police so that they could arrest me if they have any evidence against me.”
He said he was consulting his lawyers and would drag CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to court over his defamatory remarks.
He showed to media, a letter received from the TT Nagar police in writing that no cognizable offence due against him so there was no question of his arrest.
Over CM Shivraj’s allegation of Raja-Maharaja harassing him accusation, Singh said, “Post 1947, there is no Raja and Maharaja in India.” Chouhan earlier in the day had alleged that Raja and Maharaja were harassing him with baseless allegations as he was from a humble background and represented OBC class.
After being out of State politics for over 15 years, Digvijay Singh was seen active with show of strength in Bhopal on Thursday.
Singh has offered to court arrest in response to CM Chouhan’s recent remarks in which he had alleged that Singh often addresses terrorists with ji and visits terorrist’s home after his encounter and his act at times appeared anti-national to him. After starting a rally from PCC at around noon with party workers in thousands, Singh had reached the police station in around 30 minutes. The route was also packed with posters and hoarding in his support.
later, as the tricolor waving by his side, Singh climbed a DJ truck parked at nearby square and assaulted CM Chouhan further. He accused CM Chouhan of not sensing the dignity of his constitutional post and leveling baseless allegations against him and announced to file defamation suit against Chouhan.
