The effectiveness and efficiency of policing will be nullified unless the community is taken into confidence. Ensuring the participation of the public in the maintenance of law and order and reduction of crimes will be the priority for the city police. This was stated by newly posted SP Navneet Bhasin.
Earlier, Bhasin was transferred from Khadwa to Gwalior.
The newly appointed SP took charge on Wednesday morning from the outgoing SP Ashish who has been shifted to the PHQ in Bhopal.
Addressing the police officers present at the SP office, Bhasin said that the basic objectives before the force are to reduce crime levels, detect crimes before they are committed and maintain a partnership between the police and the public in the area of security.
He further said that the duty of police officers is to ensure peace and order in the city without harassing the public with their authority.
The newly appointed SP further said that he would not tolerate corruption, dishonesty and laxity in duty.
The police officers and constables who indulge in misconduct during duty will be severely punished while good performances will be rewarded.
