Social activist Ajay Dube alleged on Monday that the recently reconstituted State Wildlife Board was against the provisions of Wildlife Protection Act 1972, as most of the non-governmental members were not consulted on the wildlife protection at grass-root level.
Dube, in a letter to Chief Wild life Warden of the State Narendra Kumar further, pointed that the newly established board also violated Article 14 of the Indian Constitution because the State Government had invited application only from Sharad Sanghi of Indore who was a well known ‘capitalist’ rather than selecting persons on merit and in a transparent manner. None of the tribal people working for the wild protection in Madhya Pradesh was selected as the member of the board.
The activist also demanded that the new board be dissolved and reconstituted in lawful manner and said that in the light of increase in the number of poaching of tiger and other problems a special tiger protection tiger force should be constituted on war footing.
He said that CCTV cameras should be installed at the gates of the National Parks and sanctuaries in Madhya Pradesh on urgent basis. It would help to keep check on all kinds of entries inside the parks and sanctuaries.
After the death of Jhurjhuria tigress in 2010 in Bandhavgarh former CWlW Pabla had ordered to install such cameras in Bandhavgarh and they were installed but presently none of them is functional which is supporting the continuation of unlawful practices in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, he added.
He said that a separate wing for conservation of leopards must be established because number of unnatural death was rising.
