Widow alleges misconduct by cops

33-year-old widow residing near Pragati Nagar Colony in the Awdhpuri police station area has alleged misconduct and harassment by two police personnel during a routine vehicle check. The incident has raised serious questions about protocol adherence during police checks, especially in the absence of female officers.

According to the woman’s written complaint to DCP Headquarters Shraddha Tiwari and other senior police officials, the incident occurred recently when she was travelling on her scooty. She was stopped by Head Constable Atul Choukse and Constable Jitendra, reportedly under the pretext of routine vehicle checking.

The woman alleged that during the stop, Atul Choukse made derogatory remarks about her character and began filming her on his phone. She objected, arguing that vehicle checking without a female officer present was against protocol. Despite her objections, she claims both officers misbehaved with her.

Following the incident, the woman went to Awdhpuri police station to lodge a formal complaint. However, she alleged that her complaint was ignored at the station level, prompting her to escalate the matter to senior police officials at the DCP office.

Police sources have confirmed that an internal investigation was initiated, and a case of misconduct has been registered against both accused personnel, Atul Choukse and Jitendra, under the Awdhpuri police station’s jurisdiction. While official confirmation from the police station is still awaited.
