Procurement of wheat on support price is continuing in the State since March 25. So far, 67.80 lakh MT wheat has been procured. Payment of Rs9,830 cr has been made to the farmers.
Wheat is procured at the rate of Rs1450 per quintal at 2,966 procurement centres. So far, wheat has been procured from 880,114 farmers. This year, 18.68 lakh farmers have registered themselves to sell wheat. Date of procurement is intimated through SMS to farmers to save them inconvenience.
Food and Civil Supplies department has directed to constitute district level committees headed by District Collectors to ensure smooth wheat procurement process. Meetings of these committees are being held regularly. District officers are inspecting procurement centres regularly.
Now procurement in entire State till May 26 Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Ashok Warnwal informed that now wheat procurement would be undertaken at all procurement centres in the State till May 26.
Earlier, the department had decided to undertake wheat procurement till May 19 in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Indore and Ujjain divisions. The department has directed collectors to immediately wind up the procurement centres where arrival of wheat has ceased.
