A webinar on International Day against Drug Abuse was held at Rabindranath Tagore University.

Prashant Dubey, director of Awaaz Sanstha was the keynote speaker of the one-day online discussion organized by the National Service Planning Unit of Rabindranath Tagore University.

Prashant Dubey said that the worst effect of the monogamous lifestyle of the present era has been on the children. As a result, children and adolescents become addicted to drugs to reduce the stress caused by loneliness. According to a research, drug addiction among children has increased during the era of coronavirus.

On the other hand, Sunand K Singh, a technical expert on child protection, said that to save the next generation from drug addiction, we have to find the sources of drug addiction and curb them. As it has often been seen that parents or elders of the house themselves take intoxicants and show it as a nobility, in such a situation even small children become eager to take intoxicants.

Therefore, first we have to be determined to give up addiction at the individual level, after that some such rules can be made at the institutional level so that there is little fear in the younger generation about drug addiction. By working on both these levels, we can achieve success on drug addiction.

Childline Bhopal's city coordinator Kamal Singh Thakur said that we have to understand our responsibility towards such children. If we see any such child anywhere, we should immediately inform Childline or any other responsible organization for his rehabilitation. At the same time, youth should also be engaged in some creative activities to prevent them from falling into such habits.
