Wear khadi if you want to join Congress in MP!

Having faced defeats in both Assembly and lok Sabha elections, the Congress is on its revival mode in Madhya Pradesh. Those addicted and not wearing khadi would not be allowed membership of the party.

Before the organisational elections in the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) scheduled in July, 2015, new membership form has been printed and circulated throughout the State. The membership drive would continue till December 31, 2014.

Ironically, this time, a few conditions have been added which have attracted supporters of the Congress, because without following these conditions, they cannot get the primary membership of the age-old party.

These conditions include that the aspirant should not have the habit of taking intoxicants and be in the habit of wearing khadi instead of jeans or T-shirts. The other important condition is that the incumbent should not be in possession of property disproportionate to his source of income. Other conditions also include that the aspirant should be ready to work hard, should be unbiased towards all castes and religions of the society and others.

Despite the fact that for decades the senior leaders have been opposing certain policies of the party at different forums, the party now wants the new members that they should not use any forum, other than the party organisation, to raise voice against party's policies or programmes.

As per the organisation election programme issued by Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi, the list of the newly-inducted members would be released on January 15 and after having invited claims and complaints, the final list would be published on February 20. It has also been decided that on receipt of complaint, membership of any person could be reviewed and the membership could be terminated, if the complaint is found genuine.
