Water shortage in Ashoka Garden locality

Published on:

The residents of Ashoka Garden locality are facing water shortage as the Narmada pipe line has been damaged during digging work in the locality. About 150 households of the area had no water supply on Monday.

"We receive water on alternate days and that too with the damage of the pipeline, we have to wait for four to five days at times," said an irate and helpless Jamal Khan who lives in Ashoka Garden area.

Surprisingly, the contractor assigned with the pipeline repairing work is negligent in the work and thus there is no other alternative for the residents. Jamal further stated that the problems are ought to occur when development work takes place but negligence on the part of the people handling the work makes the problem acute.

Even the tankers are not able to make to these areas due to the digging work. The worst affected areas are those receiving water supply on alternate days and the contractor involved does not pay any heed to the problems raised during the digging work.

local residents feel that people of the city would again face similar problems as soon the work regarding laying of sewage pipeline would commence across the city.Around 500 km long sewage pipeline would be laid, for which around 10 ft below the ground would be dug.
