The main Opposition in the State Assembly, Congress, on Wednesday staged a walkout in the House over the ongoing strike of contractual health employees in the State.
As soon as Zero Hour began, Deputy leader of the Opposition Bala Bachchan raised the issue of ongoing strike of the contractual employees and sought an adjournment motion to discuss the vexed problem of the employees.
But since Speaker Sitasaran Sharma did not agree to take up the adjournment motion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra said that most of the department called off their strike but only a section stuck to their demand. An elaborate discussion was on with the employees to resolve the issue and he hoped that the employees would agree to call off the stir.
Despite the Minister's clarification, Bachan continued to demand a discussion saying it was a serious issue.
Panchayat Minister Gopal Barghava said that the contractual labourers of his department called off the strike and wanted to complete the 20-day work in 20 days. Several members from the Treasury Bench appreciated the gesture of the employees.
But Bachchan was not satisfied with the ministers' reply and the Congress staged a walkout.
later, the Congress members in the Assembly raised the issue of compensation for those whose buildings were demolished for the expansion of road in the State's commercial Capital, Indore.
Replying to Jeetu Patwari of the Congress during a calling attention notice, Minister of State for Urban Development and Environment Minister lal Singh Arya said that the case has been sub judice. Hence, the issue could not be raised in the Assembly. He said that if the rules of the municipality had any provision for compensation, it could be taken up with the officials.
Patwari asked about the justification for providing only one room to those who were removed from the heart of the city. He asked what the Government would do to those people with Floor Area Ratio (FAR) who did not have any land.
Reiterating that the case was lying with the court, Arya said that 144 people were given the benefit of FAR whose houses were cracked partially while 26 residents had removed encroachment themselves.
