In an important decision, the Madhya Pradesh High Court Indore Bench here on Tuesday stayed transfer of Vyapam scam whistle blower Anand Rai and his wife Gauri Rai asking the State Government to explain its stance as on what ground it had transferred Rai and his wife.
Taking cognisance of a petition of Dr Rai, the double Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court comprising justice PK Jaiswal and Justice TK Kaushal here on Tuesday directed Madhya Pradesh government to submit a reply by Thursday as on what ground it had transferred Dr Rai and his wife. While seeking replies from the state government, the High Court has also directed state government not to take any action against doctor couple till it submits its replies before the High Court.
The High Court ruling has given a temporary relief to Anand Rai and his wife. Dr Rai had been attached with the regional health and family welfare centre Indore for the past four years. However, the state government on July 17 last month had annulled his attachment from Indore and transferred him to the district hospital Dhar.
Almost 17 days after his transfer to Dhar, the state government issued transfer order of his wife Dr Gauri Rai from Indore to Dhar on Sunday night. Reacting to her transfer Dr Gauri Rai accused the state government of inflicting mental torture on her family alleging that the state government was deliberately troubling the family after her husband Dr Anand Rai had exposed the Vyapam scam. The state government on June 12 had revoked suspension of Dr Gauri Rai and transferred her from civil hospital Mhow to district hospital Ujjain. The couple had challenged their transfer order in the High Court.
