It was a grand show of power by former Minister laxmikant Sharma, who was released from Central jail Bhopal on Sunday. He remained in the jail for around 18 months in connection with the infamous Vyapam scam.
However, Sharma has been only bailed out, not acquitted. However, the show was amazing. Amidst the crowd of thousands of people outside jail premises, Sharma was welcomed as a victorious leader by his supporters who had reached there early in the morning.
As many as seven cases are registered against Sharma and the trial in almost all the cases has commenced. It would be quite difficult for him to avoid conviction in the cases as there are concrete evidences in a few.
While talking to media persons after coming out from the jail, Sharma said, “I have faith in the judiciary and I’m grateful to people who stood by my side during my bad phase.”
Soon after coming out of the jail, he visited a temple in the jail campus and paid his obeisance and thereafter went to his mother’s place. Sharma later left for his hometown Sironj in neighbouring Vidisha district. In Sironj too, a grand programme was organized and Sharma addressed a huge gathering of his supporters.
Despite the fact that it is only a bail, political observers feel that Sharma’s presence would certainly crop up new political equations. After Sharma was arrested in the Vyapam cases, the BJP had expelled him from the party, however after his release, political circles are speculating over his return to the party fold.
BJP’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvergiya, who had on Saturday tweeted that he was happy his friend laxmikant would be out of jail, has now to old media persons on Sunday that the decision on Sharma’s return to the BJP, would be taken by the State BJP president.
