Vyapam losing steam as BJP launches counter-offensive

Published on:

While the Congress continues its attack in New Delhi against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress seems to have forgotten the issue of Vyapam.

Shivraj himself is camping in Delhi to counter the Congress’ attack. His line of argument is that the Congress is hatching a conspiracy to malign the image of Madhya Pradesh to hamper the development pace.

The last Assembly session culminated in just three days with Congress members raising voice over Vyapam scam and demanding resignation of the Chief Minister.

later, the Youth Congress had convened a major demonstration with similar demand at the Chief Minister’s residence. The national president of the Youth Congress was also present on the occasion, but the agitation was led by Congress general secretary and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh.

However, for the past one week, the Congress in Madhya Pradesh seems to have forgotten the issue, giving time to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the State Government to take effective measures against the attack of the Congress.

Shivraj has been clarifying his position in the Vyapam scam, in almost all the meetings with common people or his partymen time and again. Besides, the party legislators have been distributed a booklet named ‘Vyapam ka Sach’, so that they could also defend him in their constituencies.

Besides, the BJP kept on searching for the issues through which the Congress leaders could be cornered.

A party legislator was put on the task and finally, an 18-year old case related to death of Congress leader Sarla Mishra was brought forth in a dramatic manner in the Monsoon session of the Assembly.

Sarla’s brother Anand Mishra reached the Assembly demanding CBI probe in the incident that allegedly linked Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh. And now, Anand is staging dharna in Bhopal pressing for his demand of CBI probe in the case.

The logjam continues in Parliament over similar issues. However, the demand of Shivraj Singh’s resignation is one of the three demands, the others being action against Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Union Minister Sushma Swaraj.
