With the onset of the winter season, the authorities of Van Vihar have made appropriate arrangements for the carnivores of the national park.
The vitamin dose is increased and heaters along with the blowers have been installed at their enclosures. The Assistant Director of the national park Dr Sudesh Waghmare informed that every year the vitamin dose is increased for the carnivorous animals during winter.
He further said that in winter season special attention is paid on carnivorous animals to avoid cold.
Dr Waghmare further informed that in winters the carnivores are given vitamin B complex, Vitamin A and Vitamin D supplements. On the other hand, tigers, lions and leopards are provided with 7 to 10 kilo of meat. Notably, their daily food doses are also increased during this season, he added.
He also said that along with the carnivores, the dose for other wild animals is also increased as per requirement. He also informed that to save the lion, tiger and leopard from cold, room heaters have been kept at their enclosures. Further, blowers and horizon lights have also been installed so that their enclosures could remain warm.
Moreover, the animals could enjoy the sunlight in winters; trees have been retrenched at the park. Over this Dr Atul Gupta of Van Vihar said that in winter season, the animals need a lot of care so that they can be saved from all kinds of winter diseases and for this they need proper sunlight. Other than this they need proper medication and a regular medical treatment would be conducted for the animals this season without any fail.

Usually in summer the timings are from 6 am to 6pm, but in winter the visiting timings are changed. Notably, as many as four lakh tourists visit the Van Vihar National Park each year.
