Dr Vikrant Bhuria, former Junior Doctors Association president and son of State Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria on Monday, stormed into ICU of the MY hospital along with his supporters on Monday to take stock of the health condition of students agitating against the MP PMT scam. Talking to mediapersons, junior Bhuria, while supporting the agitation of the striking students, said the Congress will carry forward the fight at the state-level if the State Government fails to take a due cognizance of their demands.
In an early morning swoop, the district administration on Sunday had evicted the students staging hunger strike since last four days. Accompanied by senior district officials including SDM Shyamendra Jaiswal, D K Nagendra, the police lifted two students and admitted them to ICU of the MY Hospital. Simultaneously, the municipal corporation employees also removed the temporary structure set up by the students.
Notwithstanding repeated pleas by the doctors and administrative officials, the students continued with their hunger strike even at the ICU of the hospital on Monday.
Doctors, who had conducted blood tests on them, suggested that it will be life threatening for them if they continued the fast any further. We did it in their interest. We cannot allow them to die in any case,” said SDM Jaiswal.
“Their blood ketone level, pulse and blood sugar levels have drastically gone down in last three-four days. Their weight has also fallen. One of them was unable to stand properly,” said Jaiswal.
Notwithstanding, concern of the district administration, students continue to resist doctors’ move from administering any fluids into the body, leading to deterioration in the health condition of a student Kadam Raj Kol . Besides Kadam Raj, health condition of other two students namely Poonam Sharma and Krishna Kumar Mourya had also deteriorated and they have been administered with IV fluids.
