The curfew-bound Vidisha town is slowly returning to normalcy, after periodical relaxations had been provided, on the fourth day on Wednesday, starting from 8.30 am till late in the evening.
A peace march was taken out from Madhavganj Chowk to Ramlila Sqaure in which leaders of all the religions, public representatives, social activists, administrative and police officials and local people participated in large numbers.
During the relaxation in curfew people purchased daily essentials including milk, vegetables and other items. The need of the daily essentials was such that the people preferred to reach shops for buying commodities instead of standing in queues of banks or ATMs.
The situation remained normal and under control, police is keeping strong vigil in the area and is ready to foil any attempt to destabilize the normalcy. No untoward incident has been reported in the city since Sunday and the town is returning to normalcy.
Curfew as clamped in Vidisha after violent clashes erupted following the murder of a Bajrang Dal leader, Deepak Kushwaha, on Saturday.
Kushwaha was murdered allegedly by some persons of another community which led to arson and stone-pelting, prompting the authorities to clamp curfew on the city. He was allegedly stabbed to death over an old enmity on Saturday.
Kushwaha, 20, was alone when he was attacked with sharp weapons in Totpura locality. The assailants reportedly included at least 12 persons from another community and one from his own. Kushwaha's relatives took him to the district hospital, where he died of excessive bleeding.
As news of his death spread, right-wing organisations forced shops in the town to down shutters. The VHP had called a bandh on Sunday, forcing the administration to seek reinforcements from Bhopal.
