Even as the Indian Army amply demonstrates in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir that it possesses the mettle to emerge victorious even against nature's fury, the Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM) has called upon veterans and well-wishers to donate generously towards relief.
In a statement IESM chairman Major General (retd) Satbir Singh, Sena Medal said, “As you are aware, the situation in J&K is precarious and requires extensive relief and rehabilitation. While the Centre and other organisations are doing their best, the IESM will like to play its role by collecting donations and hand over the same to Army Headquarters.”
The former officer requested people to donate by cheque/draft in favour of Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement, HDFC Bank A/c Number 06162000001330 and dispatch it to the IESM office at 543, Sector 23, Gurgaon -- 122017 Haryana. Cheques and drafts may also be sent to the IESM Treasurer at N-15, First Floor, GK I, New Delhi - 110048.
Please write 'Donation for flood relief in J&K' on the envelopes. Maj Gen Singh may be contacted at 09312404269/0124-4110570 or satbirsm@gmail.com.
“Defence personnel and veterans have always been at the forefront to assist victims of natural and manmade calamities with their untiring efforts even at the peril of their lives. With this ethos of soldiering in mind, the IESM collected Rs2.75 lakh in 2010 for leh flood relief and handed over the cheque to the Adjutant General at Army HQ on October 22, 2010,” he said.
