The police teams from Kohefiza and Shahjahanabad police stations have busted a gang involved in a series of vehicle thefts in Bhopal. Acting on sustained surveillance and intelligence inputs, the police arrested seven accused and recovered eight stolen two-wheelers, along with dismantled parts of at least three other vehicles. The total value of the recovery is estimated at approximately Rs 7.5 lakh.

The investigation was launched following a complaint lodged by Sanjana Verma on May 21, 2025, reporting the theft of her Suzuki Access (MP04-ZQ-8345) from the parking area of Shikha Tower in Nayapura during the night of May 20.

In response, the police activated their informer network and began monitoring local mechanic shops. Based on specific inputs, two key accused, Arshan Khan and Naved Khan, were taken into custody. Their interrogation led to the arrest of five more members of the gang: Haider Ali, Salman Khan, Sajjad Khan, Imran Khan, and Mohd. Sahil.

According to the police, the accused would steal two-wheelers and take them to Naved Khan’s mechanic shop, where the vehicles were either sold intact or dismantled for parts. In some cases, they reportedly forged registration documents using information sourced from the RTO.

Recovered items include multiple Suzuki Access scooters, a Splendor motorcycle, and numerous vehicle components such as fuel tanks, chassis parts, footrests, and seat covers. The police also confiscated equipment used in the thefts, including a vehicle-cutting machine and tools for unlocking vehicle locks.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Arshan (19) of Shahjahanabad, Naved Khan (24) of Kohefiza, Sahil (23) of Nishatpura, Imran (22) of Gautam Nagar, Salman (28) of Hanumanganj, Sajjad Khan (37) of Aishbagh, and Haider Ali (32) of Idgah Hills.

Police officials said the investigation is ongoing, and further links to similar theft cases in the city are being explored.
