The crime branch has busted an interstate vehicle lifters’ gang and recovered 14 trucks worth crores of rupees from Borda forest at Kolar.

While speaking to media, Superintendent of Police Bhopal (South) Anshuman Singh told that the few days ago a vehicle lifter Saleem was nabbed and handed over to the Koh-e-Fiza police. During investigation Salim confirmed about the interstate vehicle lifter gang and provided details that Abid is one of the members who helped in disposing off the vehicles. He used to pass on the demand to the gang members in other states after which the demand was fulfilled by stealing the vehicles.

On his confirmation, Abid was nabbed from Kolar and during interrogation he accepted to have stolen 14 trucks that are parked at Borda forest, near Kolar. The trucks were recovered and seized by the police later. The recovered vehicles included truck trailer, trucks, Tata -407 and Mahindra Pick up van.

Out of the 14 trucks 6 trucks have been tracked which were stolen from Delhi while the others are being searched. The engine and chassis number are tampered to such a level that it has become difficult to find the original numbers. Abid used to work as a mechanic in a denting and painting garage in the city.

Replying to a query Singh told that the customers who bought the vehicles are not going to be made accused as the documents produced by the gang members were authentic and they were not aware that the vehicles were stolen and tampered before selling them. The accused used to obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Agra while the registration documents were obtained from Bhopal RTO. It is a matter of investigation that any employee or agent is involved in the cased or the accused have forged the documents, told Singh.

The accused has confirmed that Gaffur (Mathura), Shahid (Muradabad), Mehndi Hasan (Muradabad) are other accomplice in the crime who are yet to be arrested.
