MP VAT Ordinance, 2014 has become effective from Tuesday September 16, 2014. Through the amendment, 34 goods and machinery including power-driven thrasher, leveller, scraper, cultivator, plough, maize sheller, potato planter, maize planteer, potato digger, groundnut digger, seed drill, seed caster, fertiliser caster, reaper, sugarcane cutter, sugarcane planter, post-hole digger, harrow, bund-former, ridger, cage-wheel, paddy puddler, shelf-cutter, power tiller, seed grader & seed grader machine, harvester, paddy
transplanter, sprayer, duster, seed broadcaster, fertiliser winover, pruning equipment and beller and 8 puja materials bell, large bell, ghughru, jhanjh, manjeera, trishul, kamandal and idols of deities (except those made of gold-silver and other noble materials) have been exempted from VAT.
Rate of VAT has been decreased from 13 per cent to 5 per cent on thermal insulators used as industrial inputs, document scanners, X-ray films, butter, all kind of sewing needles, flushdoors and ceramics and vitrified tiles.
