Used term ‘chocolatey faces’ for Bollywood actors, not any political leader: Vijayvargiya

Published on:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday clarified his  chocolatey faces statement taking swipe at the Congress party over Priyanka Gandhi's appointment for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

While talking to media persons, he clarified, "I would like to tell my friends in the media that if there is such a statement then they should cross check. I used the term chocolatey faces for Bollywood actors but not for any political leader.”

Earlier, Vijayvargiya had said that Priyanka Gandhi's entry into politics shows the Congress party does not have confidence and strong leaders to field in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. "For this reason, it wants to fight polls through these chocolatey faces," he said.

"Unke paas leader nahi hain, isliye wo chocolatey chehre ke madhyam se chunav mein jaana chahte hain. Ye unke andar atmavishwas ke kami ko dikhata hai," Kailash Vijayvargiya had said on Saturday. "Koi Kareena Kapoor ka naam chalata hai, koi Salman Khan ka, kabhi Priyanka Gandhi ko le aate hain [Someone wants to bring actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, some want to field Salman Khan in Lok Sabha polls. Likewise, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also brought into active politics]" he had said.

Vijayvargiya held a press conference in Indore where he was asked about reports of Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan being named by the Congress for contesting from Indore and Bhopal constituencies.

"This shows the dearth of self-confidence in them. They don't have any leader, that's why they want to contest the upcoming elections while banking on chocolaty faces. Somebody takes Kareena Kapoor's name while others ask for Salman Khan. Now they have brought in Priyanka Gandhi (Isse unke aatmavishwas ki kami jhalakti h. Unke paas leader nahi hain, isliye wo chocolatey chehre ke madhyam se chunav mein jaana chahte hain. Ye unke andar ke atmavishwas ki kami ko darshata hai... Koi Kareena Kapoor ka naam chalata hai, koi Salman Khan ka, kabhi Priyanka Gandhi ko le aate hain)," Vijayvargiya said.

"They don't have confidence on Rahul Gandhi's guidance," he added.

Hours after BJP’s Kailash Vijayvargiya’s remark, Madhya Pradesh Minister Sajjan Singh Verma hit back at the saffron party and said that it has leaders with rough faces that’s why they are generally disliked by everyone. In a new low, the minister said that BJP has Hema Malini and they make her perform everywhere to garner votes. The BJP lacks chocolaty faces, he further added. Singh, who represents Dewas constituency, told the BJP to praise the lord that he made Priyanka so beautiful. “Motherly affection and love radiates from her face and by using such words against Priyanka Kailash Vijayvargiya is demeaning himself and his party,” said Singh.
