The Central Region Power Distribution Company has appealed to all religious festival committees and consumers to take temporary power connections during their festivals. Power should be consumed for illuminating canopies and tableaux during Ganesh Utsav by taking temporary connection as per rules, it said.
Billing will be made on domestic tariff. The company has urged festival committees to celebrate festivals with traditional enthusiasm and fervour. At the same time, they should also contribute in energy conservation.
Power consumers and religious festival committees have been advised to apply for temporary connections in prescribed proforma to the nearest office of distribution centre/assistant engineer for illuminating religious canopies and tableaux on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Enumerating safety measures, the company has advised festival committees to get wiring done by a licensed contractor only and only good and fire-resistant wires should be used.
Advising consumers not to consume more power than the load, the company also appealed not to draw power unauthorised. The company further warned that excessive load might lead up to burning up of transformer and accidents. This will also result in power shutdown in the area for a long time
The company has warned that legal action will be taken under Electricity Act 2003 against the person and the contractor who take illegal connections. Similarly, the licence of the contractor will also be confiscated in case of unauthorised consumption of power. The company has appealed festival committees to observe electricity safety rules while illuminating canopies and tableaux.
