Use cow urine in manufacture of medicines and pesticides. This directive was given by Animal Husbandry Minister Antar Singh Arya. He undertook surprise inspection of Government Jersey Animal Breeding Farm Dairy Estate on Monday. Deputy Director AS Parihar informed Arya about gaushala and other activities.
Minister Arya inspected Gaushala having Jersey and Sahiwal cows. These species are famous for maximum milk yield in the world. Arya apprised himself of cows' maintenance, specialities of their species, nutritious diet etc.
Arya was informed that farm's objective is not commercial, but conservation and promotion of high quality cows of indigenous and Jersey cows. High quality calves and bulls produced in the farm are supplied to Central Semen Collection Centres in various districts of the state.
The semen generated by them is used in procreating high breed indigenous cows through artificial insemination. As a result, progeny of indigenous cows is improved and milk yield is increased. Sahiwal bulls being produced in the farm are also being provided under various departmental schemes.
Arya also directed to construct two Gaushala shades, one fodder godown and dug one tube well in the farm.
Meanwhile, on the initiative of Cottage and Village Industries Minister Antar Singh Arya, Madhya Pradesh Silk Federation has increased rate of silk cocoons' procurement. Now, Mulberry Cocoons will be procured from farmers at Rs 350 per kg instead of Rs 270 per kg.
Sericulture activities are being undertaken to provide employment and alternative sources of income to farmers in rural areas of the state. Under sericulture schemes, concerning farmers produce silk cocoons by breeding silkworms on mulberry trees. These cocoons are procured on support price by Silk Federation. Beneficiaries had been demanding to increase procurement rates since long time. Considering farmers demand sympathetically, Arya had directed to increase cocoon procurement rate.
