There was uproar after BJP's Vikas Yatra was stopped passing through the South-West Assembly constituency of Bhopal. The police had stopped the yatra citing the imposition of section 144. Angry former minister Umashankar Gupta, municipal chairman Kishan Suryavanshi and supporters sat on a dharna. They sat on dharna for about one and a half hours. Meanwhile, the health of former minister Gupta deteriorated due to dropping sugar level. For this reason he was taken to Siddhanta Hospital.

Vikas Yatras were taken out in all the Vidhan Sabhas of the capital till February 25. The yatra could not take place in the South-West Assembly constituency. The yatra was taken out from the assembly under the leadership of former minister Gupta from Tuesday morning. By afternoon, the Vikas Yatra had passed through three wards 31, 46 and 47 and started moving towards Ward-33.

When the BJP leader-activist started moving from Shivaji Square towards Thandi Sadak (in front of Shaurya Smarak), the police stopped them citing the imposition of Section 144. On this, Minister Gupta got angry and sat on a dharna along with his supporters. On the spot, he also discussed with Collector Avinash Lavania. After an hour and a half, the leaders and workers withdrew from the dharna.

The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly session has started from February 27, which will last for a month. Due to this, Section 144 has been imposed in and around the assembly building. Police Commissioner Makrand Deoskar has issued orders. During the session, neither any crowd nor any meeting, rally or protest can be held around the Vidhan Sabha. The ban has an effect within a radius of five kilometres. Due to this, barricading has been done all around. BJP's Vikas Yatra was also stopped due to this reason.

PC Sharma of the Congress is currently the MLA from the assembly constituency through which the BJP leaders were taking the Vikas Yatra on Tuesday. Sharma has also been a minister in the Kamal Nath government.
