Till now you must have seen people protesting only on issues like alcohol, water and electricity, but on Sunday Bhopal witnessed a unique protest, children and elderly took to the road on adulteration in food items like milk, mawa, rice and pulses. Raising slogans, they demanded that the adulterers be hanged. The performance went on for an hour.
For the first time in the city such a demonstration on adulteration took place and people raised the demand to hang the adulterers.
The demonstration was held at Bagh Mughalia Extension Colony. People in one voice said that the government is taking big action against rapists, illegal drug addicts and illegal occupants of government land in Madhya Pradesh. Their houses are being demolished, but no such action is taken against adulteration. Therefore, the government should make such a law, in which adulterers can also be punished with strict action.
Umashankar Tiwari, president of Bagh Mughalia Extension Colony Development Committee, said that those who adulterated food items were demanded capital punishment. Just as the government has made death sentence or life imprisonment on poisonous liquor sale , in the same way, those who adulterate food items like milk, ghee, mawa, flour, spices, oil, pulses and rice and other food items should be hanged.
Tiwari said adulterers are more dangerous than terrorists. Terrorists harm a family but adulterers harm the whole country and society.
From the elderly to small children also came forward in the demonstration. With banners and posters in their hands, they were demanding strict action against the culprits.
