Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has on Thursday said Union Budget tabled in the Parliament is pro-poor and pro-farmer. This Budget will provide relief to the common man in the country, he added.
However, the Opposition Congress dubbed it as a misleading Budget based on the jugglery of numbers.
While talking to media persons, Chouhan said, “Agriculture is the lifeline of our country. I welcome Government’s decision to provide 1.5 times of cost as Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Rabi crops. This step will provide a boost to farmer incomes.” The cluster farming will help small and marginal farmers, he said, adding that specialised agri processing will help us to utilise well our surplus production and improve realisations for farmers. This Budget will also boost organic farming, he said.
The CM further said the Ujjwala Scheme (for providing free lPG cylinders) has brought about a positive change in the lives of rural women. The Saubhagya Yojana (providing power connections) will play a crucial role in realising the goal of power for all.
lauding the announcement of health schemes, Chouhan said, "This is a revolutionary health protection scheme for the poor covering 50 crore of population. This will provide significant relief to poor and vulnerable from high medical expenses, at the same time providing quality healthcare."
He mentioned that this budget will realize the dream of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for building New India. This revolutionary budget will help in eradicating poverty and for creating employment opportunities. Remarkable steps have been taken in the budget for the farmers and poor. It has solutions to double the farmers’ income and will strengthen rural economy. Chouhan stated that the strict steps taken by the Prime Minister in the economy sector has started yielding good results. This budget will facilitate more speed to the fast growing Indian economy.
The opposition Congress, however, said the budget did not reflect the expectations of people from the Modi government.
