Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta on Wednesday rejected the Congress’ demand for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry in the sensational blind murder of Meera Ahuja of the State capital. He claimed that the investigation is in progress and the murderers would be nabbed soon.
The Meera Ahuja murder case rocked the State assembly when Congress legislator Raghuveer Jatav raised the issue during the question hour and demanded that if the local police are not able to solve the case then it should be handed over to the CBI.
The Home Minister rejected this demand by saying that if the local police fail to solve the case than it a thought over conducting a CBI enquiry would be done, at present it is not required. The Bhopal police is investigating the case with full seriousness and four teams led by senior police officers have been constituted to solve the case, he added.
The Home Minister though admitted in the House that despite making all out efforts the local has failed
to get any substantial lead in the case.
Congress legislator from Bhopal North Arif Aqueel intervened and told the Home minister that if the investigating police officers in the case are not able to provide results than they should be changed.
The chair than intervened and said that nothing could be achieved by changing the investigating officials. After this the Congress legislators started creating ruckus. The home minister tried to pacify the opposition by telling that the review of the case is going on at the DGP level and soon the murderers of Meera Ahuja would be nabbed.
later, Congress legislator Purshottam Dangi walked out of the house as he was not satisfied with the answer of Social Justice Minister Gopal Bhargava for his query over launching of Chief Minister Rural Village Scheme in Biaora assembly constituency of Rajgarh district and corruption in the road construction works. The minister assured of doing the enquiry in the issue in 15 days but Dangi was not satisfied.
