Union Cabinet Minister for Water Resources, River Development, Ganga Rejuvenation and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti through her representative Narendra Birthare issued a statement to clarify her position over the infamous Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.
Notably, the main Opposition in the State Congress on Saturday alleged Bharti of involvement in the MPPEB scam. The Union Water Resources Minister is being accused of making recommendations for selection of candidates. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also under the scanner in the scam.
The statement issued from the Union Minister’s official residence here said that when her name first surfaced in the scam, in December last year she was amazed and immediately reached Bhopal and sought appointment from the DGP to register her statement. The DGP in turn reached her residence early in the morning and held discussion with her in which Bharti drew the attention of the DGP towards the seriousness of the issue.
Meanwhile, a statement from the STF came telling that Bharti is not involved in the scam.
later Bharti, addressing a press conference, compared the scam with the fodder scam of Bihar and suggested that seeing the seriousness of the scam it should be recommended for CBI probe because besides Madhya Pradesh other States were also connected with it. The MP Government handed over the investigation to STF because it is a competitive organisation.
Bharti is amazed that the Congress again done dirty politics over the issue and feared that this could dilute the seriousness of the issue. Some Congress leaders are also involved in the scam that is why the Congress party is trying to build atmosphere of confusion over the issue.
She appealed to the Congress and the media to believe in STF and let it do its work so that the real culprits could be identified and punished.
