Marking the second day of Akshada theatre fest, two plays 'Bade Bhai Sahab' and 'Raja Ram Mohan Roy' were staged on Friday. The plays were staged at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium.

The event began with staging Bade Bhai Sahab. The play was directed by Vipul Singh and was performed by the artists of Ravindra Pratap Singh Educational Committee, Rewa.

Bade Bhai Saheb tells a story of the relationship between two brothers Kamta Prasad who is 14 years old and Samta Prasad who is nine years old.

Both live away from home in a hostel to study. Kamta, the elder brother, spends all his time reading.

Samta, the younger brother, is just the opposite of Kamta. He is more interested in playing with friends than in studying. But he is terrified of his elder brother and to please him starts studying the minute he sees him.

Both the brothers try to prove that his way of living is correct that leads to comic situations all through the play.

Next play, Raja Ram Mohan Roy was performed by Government Model Higher Secondary School, Bhopal, written and directed by Sadat Bharti. The play showcased the life span of Raja Ram Mohan Roy.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy was one of the founders of the Bhramo Sabha the precursor of the Bhramo Samaj, a social-religious reform movement in the Indian subcontinent.

He was given the title of Raja by Akbar II, the Mughal emperor. His influence was apparent in the fields of politics, public administration, education and religion. He was known for his efforts to abolish the practices of sati and child marriage. Both the plays were staged wonderfully and spellbounded the audiences.
