Absconding former Corporator of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) P Ganesh, who along with his other employees has allegedly killed one of his truck drivers at Malikhedi under Ratibud police station area on May 18, surrendered in the district court on Friday.

Additional Superintendent of Police Zone 2 AP Singh informed that the accused has surrendered today and the police have been granted four days’ police custody. The role of P Ganesh would be defined during further investigations, he added. On May 18 Ganesh had allegedly beaten a truck driver to death in Ratibad locality, in the outskirts of Bhopal on Saturday morning.

The former Corporator owns a stone crusher in Malikhedi village, in Ratibud area. On Saturday morning, when Ganesh reached there, he came to know that the employees working at the crusher caught truck driver Pankaj Yadav red-handed stealing diesel. On this, infuriated Ganesh, along with his employees severely beat him up.

When Yadav became unconscious, the employees rushed him to JP hospital and admitted in serious condition. later, in the afternoon, the victim died while undergoing treatment.

It was sheer failure of the district police that in past five days, they could not arrest Ganesh. He has been notorious in both Ratibad and Kolar localities. Even on Friday, the police officials had no clues as how Ganesh reached the court room without any clue.

There have been news in the news papers for past couple of days that he might surrender in the court, but the police officials never made any efforts to find out any clues regarding the hideouts of Ganesh.

Since, Ganesh has been associated with the ruling BJP, the Congress leaders alleged that the police officials deliberately did not make any efforts to arrest him.
