Madhya Pradesh police late on Thursday evening gunned down a criminal, accused in a triple murder case.

The encounter took place close at a farm based at Kharod Road in Ratlam district also leaving five policemen injured.

The police said that the accused was surrounded by police and asked to surrender but he opened fire on the police to which the police retaliated killing Deval on the spot. Five injured policemen including two sub-inspectors and three constables were hospitalised after the incident.

On the night of Nov 25, a salon owner from Ratlam Govind Solanki, his wife Sharda and daughter Divya (21) were shot dead by armed assailants who had robbed them of cash and jewellery. Nov 25 being Devuthni Gyaras, locals were engaged in celebrating the occasion with firecrackers so none heard the gun shots and took them to be firecrackers.

One of the tenants of Solanki saw the deadbodies lying amid a pool of blood the next morning and informed the police. During initial probe, CCTV footage helped police in quickly realising that Dilip Deval and his men had committed the heinous crime.

The police in last few days had nabbed five associates of Dilip.
