Travelling in public vehicles like buses, taxies and autos will soon become safer as the Madhya Pradesh Transport Department has decided to open a command center to monitor all public vehicles. This was notified by Mukesh Jain, Transport Commissioner, Government of Madhya Pradesh during a meeting with the media at Gwalior.
During the meeting Jain said that the command centre will start operating from June 15. He added that instructions have been given to public vehicle owners to install GPS, camera and panic button in all vehicles. He added that the GPS will give information about the route being taken by the vehicle and said that action will be taken if the driver deviates from the decided route.
Jain further said that the panic button will help the passengers, especially the women passengers if any harassment takes place.
He said that the panic button will set off an alarm at the nearest police station. The Transport Commissioner also said that the CCTV camera will record all activities that take place in the vehicles, so that passengers, especially women and children can travel without any fear or apprehension.
