In a stern warning to the vehicle owners, the Transport department on Wednesday said that if the department finds any vehicle on the road without registration number, not only the vehicle owners would have to pay find, but also the dealer concerned would be panalised. A senior official of the Transport department informed that city traffic police have also been intimidated in this regard to take action against the vehicle owner and dealer.
Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Gwalior, Ashok Nigam, said that the dealers have not given information about vehicles to the Department about the vehicle sold from Deepawali to New Year. So the traffic police are recovering the fine in the absence of the information.According to the transport department, nearly 20,000 vehicles were sold during festival season out of which only 8,000 vehicles were registered.
According to the rules, the dealers would hand over the vehicle only when the registration number of the vehicle is received, irrespective of delay of 2-3 days. But due to competition, the dealers hand over the vehicles to the owners without numbers. In such cases if any accident takes place, it becomes difficult to take action the vehicle owner.
