The health department of the state would send its doctors for skill upgradation in intensive care, emergency medicine and oncology to Bangalore and Mumbai. The decision in this effect was taken owing to delay in the start of hospital services at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal, said a senior health official here on Sunday.
According to joint director of health Dr BS Ohri the state government would send its doctors to Bangalore-based Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences for ICU and emergency medicine. Consultations are also on with Mumbai-based Asian Institute of Oncology for basic training in cancer detection and care. To begin with, four batches of 25 doctors each would go for a week's training to Bangalore.
Health department officials had initially identified AIIMS Bhopal for such trainings. "We require exposure to ICU and other facilities which are yet to begin at AIIMS. However, training for non-communicable diseases (NCD) will continue there," said Dr Ohri. A schedule of 34 batches for NCD training has been approved for AIIMS Bhopal. Overall skill upgradation is likely to cost `2 crore.
