Train between Indore, Darbhanga demanded

Published on:

People of North Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh living here for years have once again reiterated their demand for a direct superfast train between Indore and Darbhanga, the cultural capital of North Bihar via Bhopal, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Banaras, Balia, Chapra, Hajipur and Muzaffarpur. In this regard, the Poorvotar Sanskritik Sansthan, an association of the people of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and other eastern States had recently sent a memorandum to the Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu, demanding introduction of a new train between Indore and Darbhanga, which according to association, will immensely help the people of north Bihar and eastern UP to go to their native places without any inconvenience.

In this regard, a delegation of association led by its State president Thakur Jagdish Singh, vice-president Nirmal Dube and State secretary Ajay Jha on Tuesday also met Union minister Ramvilas Paswan asking him to do the needful for Indore-Darbhanga train, besides increase in frequency of Indore-Patna train and its extension up to Darbhanga via Mokahma and Barauni.

The delegation apprised Paswan that over seven lakh people from various districts of eastern UP and north Bihar are living in Indore and adjoining regions of Malwanchal for several years. Besides eking out their living, they are also immensely contributing to the growth of this region of Madhya Pradesh. However, on account of lack of suitable rail connection from Indore to north-eastern parts of the country, they face immense hardship to go to their native places.

Presently, Indore has only one train Indore-Patna express, which runs twice a week. However, this train due to immense traffic pressure and unsuitable timing is not convenient for the people of north Bihar and eastern UP. Keeping this in mind, the association for the past several years has been raising the demand for introducing a new train between Indore and Darbhanga via Bhopal, Itarsi, Jabalpur. Banaras, Balia, Chapra and Hazipur, but their demands have not been met so far.

Singh said the association in its memorandum has also asked for increasing frequency of Indore-Patna Express and its extension upto Darbhanga via Mohkama and Barauni. Paswan while listening to the demands of the association members assured them that he will seriously pursue the matter with the Union railway minister and would ensure that their genuine demands are met at the earliest.
