A three-year-old girl was mowed down by a tractor at a stone crusher at Sikandarabad under Ratibad police station area on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohini. She was playing at the crusher when she was hit by the tractor, eyewitnesses said. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead.
Police said the deceased used to live with her parents at the stone crusher facility.
The body was sent for the postmortem. A case was registered and police have started further investigation.
Search for the errant driver has been started.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance at Gondipura village under Gandhi Nagar police station area late on Friday.
Police said the deceased Mohammad Ejaz was rushed to a nearby hospital after he was found in an unconscious state where he was declared dead.
In the initial investigation police found that the deceased after having dinner went to his room and consumed poisonous substance. He was found by the family members in an unconscious state.
The police registered a case and have started further investigation. Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have expressed ignorance over the reason of the suicide.
