Alliance Française de Bhopal in collaboration with Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museum in continuation of its Rock Art Festival is organising a painting exhibition ‘Images of Power’.
It is an exhibition on Rock Art by Meenakshi Pathak that would be put up on October 26 at 5.30 pm. This exhibition will be inaugurated by eminent pre-historian Jean Clottes at the State Museum that would be displayed till October 30. Meenakshi Pathak and Jean Clottes will deliver a lecture on “Rock Art in the World” conference from 6.30 pm.
Meenakshi Pathak was awarded Junior Research Fellowship in 1987 to carryout research work on the “Prehistoric Rock Paintings of the Pachmarhi Hills in Central India” during which she discovered and explored 25 painted rock shelters. In September 1988, she presented her Paper “Rock Art of the Old World” in World Congress, AURA (Australian Rock Art Research Association) Darwin, Australia.
Notably, Pathak’s work Images of Power depicts rock art on canvas. It is meant to let the viewers know that how these wonderful art forms, often found in areas difficult of access, actually appear in the caves and shelters where only a privileged few are allowed to enter. Beautifully presented the works of Meenakshi would let the spectators view the rarest paintings of caves and shelters.
Moreover, in the conference Rock Art in the World Pathak and Clottes will take the audience on a journey to the world of caves and Rock Art. They will give the audiences an opportunity to live a life in the past and understand how man lived thousands of years ago. Pathak and Clottes will also have an interactive session with the participants and respond to the questions of the audience.
