“Realisation of Goal is very important,” says former IAS officer and writer Vijay Agarwal.

He was addressing the young civil service aspirants on Sunday during a three-day workshop at Maulana Azad Central library. The three-day open workshop concluded on Sunday.

While addressing the students Vijay Agarwal gave some useful tips to the students. While interacting with the students, he told them about his personal experience and the technique with which he prepared for the civil service examinations.

He said, “If you are preparing for the exams just get the status and enjoy the facilities provided then do not give the exam as the nature of all these things have changed in today’s scenario and these do not really matter. Moreover if you are preparing for IAS just because your parents want it then again, do not go for it.” Elaborating further he said, “If you have not decided clearly that you are prepared to give the services to the people then do not prepare for it.”

Elaborating more about it he said, “Revision of the topics and reading the newspaper on daily basis is one of the important aspects for preparing for UPSC,” he added.

Notably, current affairs and its knowledge is one of the vital part of the civil services examinations. Most often students prepare current affairs accordingly and most often prepare them through self study.

Moreover, it also happen that the students sometimes leave the most important and rare topics which can be asked in the examinations, he added. He also shared some important points to be remembered.

He signed off wishing the students luck for the examination.
